PURPOSE:To reduce a frequent ignition and a diminishing of fire of a burner unit by a method wherein a heating calorie of a burner unit is reduced more than that of hot water feeding time when only an additional heating is being performed. CONSTITUTION:A hot water feeder having an additional heating function is operated such that for example, water in a boiler 11 is heated by a burner unit 11 provided with a high combustion burner 12 of Hi and a low combustion burner 13 of Lo and then the heated water is utilized in a hot water feeding operation and at the same time water circulating between the boiler 1 and an external bath tub and the like is heated by the burner unit 11 to perform an additional heating. When only the additional heating is to be performed, only the burner 13 of Lo of the burner unit 11 is ignited and a heating capacity of the burner unit 11 is decreased and then it becomes equal to an additional heating capacity and so a frequent ignition and diminishing operation in the burner unit 11 is reduced.
