PURPOSE:To achieve inspection of direction of a ground fault point easily and accurately, by detecting current flowing between two adjacent electric poles with a pair of antennas to identify the antenna producing the preceding output from a time difference between output signals of this pair of antennas. CONSTITUTION:A high voltage pulse is applied to an aerial wire 1 using a high voltage pulse application means 2 to cause a ground wire discharge at a ground fault point X. A first wave of a ground fault current caused propagates to an aerial wire 1 from the ground fault point X as current travelling wave. As the travelling wave reaches points of insulators 5A and 5B, a discharge current flows to electric poles 4A and 4B from the ground. The current is detected with antennas 7C and 7D to be inputted into a receiver 12. The receiver 12 identifies the antenna outputting the preceding signal utilizing a time difference between first waves of output signals of the antennas 7C and 7D; from the results of the discrimination, the direction of the ground fault point is explored.
