PURPOSE:To readily keep up with increase in the level of display, by halting a sweeping to perform an alphanumeric display only when the level of the alphanumeric display increases. CONSTITUTION:A sweep gate 14 rises by a radar trigger 10 and at the same time, with the rising thereof 17 and 18, a sweep waveform (X)17 and a sweep waveform (Y)18 are generated while the sweep gate 14 is at a high level. These sweep waveforms are supplied separately to an X axis sweep amplifier current and a deflection coil 7 is driven to form a sweep on a CRT8. When an alphanumeric overflow signal 11 is supplied, a sweep gate 14' is generated with the sweep gate 14 halted for a fixed period. With this, an alphanumeric gate 15 is turned to an alphanumeric gate 15'. With these gates, no sweep waveforms (X)17' and (Y)18' generate only for a fixed period and, instead, alphanumeric waveforms (X)19' and (Y)20' are generated continuously.
