PURPOSE:To facilitate control of molten surface and to cast plate material without enclosing impurity by having a cylindrical melting chamber at center part, supplying solid metallic material from horizontal direction and discharging it from a discharging hole at bottom part of the melting chamber. CONSTITUTION:The solid metallic material 19 is supplied in the melting chamber 18 from the material supplying hole 20 opened at the side part of the main body part 16, and it is heated while progressing it in the melting chamber 18 and it is gradually melted from the end part to make the molten metal M. The molten metal M storing in the melting chamber 18 is discharged from the discharging hole 21 arranged at the bottom part of the main body part 16 to form the casting 23 having plate-state and wide width. This casting 23 becomes plate material casting 23 while forming solidified boundary at the outlet part of the discharging hole 21, and the casting 23 is drawn by rollers.
