PURPOSE:To improve the heat resistance and high-temp. corrosion resistance of the title matrix by forming a laminate having many reticular gas passage holes in the axial direction, and dipping the laminate in a molten aluminum bath to form a catalyst for purifying exhaust gas. CONSTITUTION:A flat band material 1 and a corrugated band material 2 are laminated on one another, and the laminate is collectively and spirally wound to form the laminate 5 having many reticular gas passage holes 4 in the axial direction. The laminate 5 is previously degreased and pickled, then fluxed, rapidly dipped in the molten Al bath at about 700 deg.C, and pulled up from the bath. Excess Al is removed by airblasting, and the laminate is washed with water. The Al coating layers are thus formed on the front and rear of the band materials 1 and 2, the Al in the Al layer is melted and diffused into the Ni plating layer by heating in the dipping treatment, and an Ni-Al alloy layer is formed. |
