PRODUCTION OF PELLET OF STYRENE RESIN COMPOSITION

PURPOSE:To obtain the title pellet which enables stable production of a molding of excellent impact strength, by cutting a strand of a composition comprising a styrene resin and a styrene/butadiene block copolymer by specifying a ratio of the diameter of the die of an extruder to the diameter of the strand in a specified range. CONSTITUTION:A process for producing pellets by forming a styrene/butadiene block copolymer (A) which forms a matrix and a styrene resin (B) other than the above resin into a strand with an extruder and cutting this strand, wherein in forming said strand by extruding a composition comprising 50-90wt.% said copolymer and 50-10wt.% resin B, a strand satisfying the ratio Ds/D (wherein D is the diameter of the die of the extruder and Ds is the diameter of the strand) of 0.3-1.5 is formed, and this strand is cut as such. Resin pellets which can provide stably a molding of a high impact strength can be obtained.
