PURPOSE:To couple picture information with optical character information by providing a picture information inputting means, a code information inputting means, a transmitting means to transmit the picture information and the code information, a receiving means to receive the picture information and the code information, and an editing means, and editing the received picture information and the received code information. CONSTITUTION:The network controller 233 of a facsimile equipment 200 receives a character code data and d format data which have been transmitted from the facsimile equipment 290, and sends them to a MODEM 235. A main control part 210 reads out a compressed data corresponding to first page of an original, from a picture information storage part 254, and at the same time, reads out a character code data from the storage part 255, and sends it to a picture processing part 251. The picture processing part 251 restores the compressed data to be inputted, and at the same time, generates the pattern data of a destination name by a character developing part 252. Then, the picture processing part 251 synthesizes both the data, and outputs it to a recording part 261. Accordingly, an optional combination comes possible, and only the necessary information can be obtained.
