PURPOSE:To easily separate oil-water emulsion into oil and water with surfactant obtd. by add. polymerizing alkylene oxide to carboxyl group in rosin ester resin. CONSTITUTION:The rosin ester resin is produced by condensing dihyric alcohol to add. compd. of rosin and unsatd. dibasic acid. Then, the surfactant for oil- water sepn. is produced by add. polymerizing alkylene oxide to carboxyl group in the rosin ester resin obtd. as described above. Degree of condensation in resin part of the surfactant is high, and its mol.wt. becomes high by optionally add. polymerizing alkylene oxide. Therefore, a low-grade mixture of oil and water can be easily and reliably separated in oil and water only by adding the surfactant to the mixture, stirring and mixing.
