PURPOSE:To provide an automatic storage scanning device, wherein the picker placing space is secured wide, by furnishing the picker with a pair of slide arms with possibility of advancing and retracting, and by allowing a detent to advance and retract to/from the detention part of each container in linkage with the first named advance/retraction. CONSTITUTION:An inner picker 6 moved to a certain container accommodating rack is advanced to rack by starting an extraction motor 13, which actuates running of an endless chain 22. At the same time, a sprocket 30a fixed to a slide arm 17 will advance. Accordingly another endless chain 30, part of which is coupled with the inner picker 6, will have rotational dislocation, and a detent 29 coupled with this chain 30 advances twice as much as the amount of motion of the inner picker 6, to stop at the container detention part. Then a picking arm 34 is protruded to be drawn out onto the inner picker 6 in detention with the container. This constitution widens the placing space.
