PURPOSE:To prevent any nonconformity in a printing state due to overlapping from occurring before it happens by detecting an overlap of feeding paper, and controlling the paper feeding according to the detection output. CONSTITUTION:First of all, before starting printing, only one sheet of printing paper to be used is fed by a roller 2, while more than one is capacitance and light transmitting value by one sheet of the printing paper are measured at a detector 3, and stored as the reference value. And printing operation is started, the printing paper housed in a hopper 1 is subjected to the same measurement at the detector 3, comparing it with the reference value to be stored. If the measured value accords with the reference value, the printing paper is printed at a printing part 8, and it is housed in a stacker 10 by a roller 9. However, if the printing paper is overlapped, the measured value and the reference value are not accorded with each other, whereby it is changed over to a trouble detecting conveyor passage B from a normal conveyor passage A by a conveyor controller 4. Accordingly, any nonconformity in a printing state due to an overlap of feeding paper is preventable before it happens.
