PURPOSE:To provide an electrophotographic sensitive body which sufficiently satisfies various desirable characteristics including electrostatic charge performance, photosensitivity, etc., by varying the volume resistivities of two layers constituting a surface coating layer by a specific value or above so that the respective layers function in complemental fashion. CONSTITUTION:The surface coating layer of the electrophotographic sensitive body 1 constituted by laminating a photoconductive layer 3 and the surface coating layer successively on a conductive base 2 consists of at least the two layers; the low resistance layer 4 and high resistance layer 5 which vary in the volumetric resistivity by >=10<2>OMEGAcm. While the low resistance layer 4 has an effect of allowing easier electric charge injection, the high resistance layer 5 acts as a charge holding layer. The low resistance layer 4 and the high resistance layer 5 are thereby made to share the respective roles, by which the electrostatic charge performance is enhanced and the residual potential is suppressed. The electrophotographic sensitive body having excellent electrical characteristics and optical characteristics is obtd. |
