PURPOSE:To prevent conduction between one electrode and the other electrode as well as coloring layers on both electrode sides by sagging and infiltration of paste by retracting the side part of the other electrode corresponding to an electrode taking-out part provided to the side part of the one electrode and the side part of the coloring layer on this electrode side to the side inner than the end edge of the side part of the one electrode. CONSTITUTION:The right side part 4b of the oxidation coloring layer 4 is also slightly retracted to the inner side so as to be made flush with the right side part 3b of the lower transparent electrode 3. The right side part 4b of the coloring layer 4 and the right side 3b of the transparent electrode 3 are covered by the right side part 5b of an ion donator 5. The respective end edges in the right side part 5b of the ion donator 5, the right side part 6b of the reduction coloring layer 6 and the right side part 7b of the upper electrode 7 are positioned flush with each other. The electrode taking-out part 9 is provided in the right side part 7b of the upper electrode 7b above the right side part 5b of the ion donator 5. The conduction of the upper electrode 7 and the coloring layer 4 by the sagging and infiltration of the paste is thereby obviated and the memory characteristic and colorability are improved.
