PURPOSE:To improve the convenience to users of a multi-function terminal equipment by allowing an information storage device to scan information and displaying the storage state onto a relevant multi-function terminal equipment when a private branch of exchange commands the initial setting to the multi- function terminal equipment and the information storage device at the occurrence of a fault. CONSTITUTION:When the private branch of exchange 1 detects occurrence of a fault, the exchange commands the initial setting to the multi-function terminal equipment 2 and an information storage device 5. When the initial setting is finished, the device 5 starts a storage information scan means 200 to return the obtained display control information. The exchange 1 controls the display means 100 of the terminal equipment 2 based on the display control information returned from the means 200. Thus, just after the private branch of exchange executes the initial restart processing, the display means of the multi-function terminal equipment displays the storage state of the information storage device properly to enhance the convenience to the user of the multi- function terminal equipment.
