PURPOSE:To prevent the abrasion of bottom plate and the splash of water by cushioning action of water by providing a head block in which a front beam and an intermediate beam are provided for the bottom plate by positioning the intermediate beam at a level higher than the front beam. CONSTITUTION:In a head block for waterway, a bottom plate 1, side plates 2 erectly set on both sides of the plate 1, and a back closed plate 3 are formed integrally. A front beam 4 and an intermediate beam 5 are provided in the rightangle direction to the direction of water flow for the plate 1 by positioning the beam 5 at a level higher than the beam 4. In the head block, water traps 6 and 7 of different depths are formed. The flow rate of water can thus be greatly reduced by a stepwide head.
