PURPOSE:To enable automatic mode setting by recording detectable information on at least either of a connecting tape which connects an information recording medium and leader tape or connects the other information recording medium at the midpoint of the information recording medium body or the leader tape. CONSTITUTION:The broad leader tape 30 is connected via a press tape 20 as the connecting tape to the front end of, for example, a microfilm F. Bar codes 21 as the detectable information are recorded on the press tape 20. Any information may be inputted to the bar codes 21; for example, information on the type of a mark (m) for retrieval is inputted as the bar code information thereon. The kind of the mark (m) for retrieval on the microfilm F connected to the press tape 20 can, therefore, be judged by reading the bar codes 21 with a sensor. The need for the mode setting by an operator is thereby eliminated and the operability is greatly improved. |
