<p>A drywall tape applicator includes a -tubular handle and a unitary cast head attached to the handle. The head has a pair of spaced side walls and a roller at the free end thereof. A pair of discs, each mounted on a stub shaft, is spring-mounted for rotation between the side walls so that they can be easily separated for replacement of a tape roll therebetween while the spring force helps retain the tape roll firmly in place between the discs. A spring-loaded knife assembly atop the head is connected to a trigger mechanism partly located in the tubular handle. Tape on a roll held between the discs is fed over the roller and applied to a drywall joint by moving the applicator so that the roller can release tape to the joint. At the end of the joint, the trigger mechanism is operated so that the knife can cut the tape, The applicator is light in weight for easy maneuverability and it is very efficient with respect to tape replacement,</p> |
