PURPOSE:To measure the curvature of a tile carpet by detecting the position of the lower end of the side part of a sample by photoelectric tube and knowing the current counted value of a counter. CONSTITUTION:When a rotary disk 5 is turned by operating a handle 4, a male screw 6 and the shaft 11 of a shaft encoder 12 rotate. The photoelectric tube 10 moves up and down through the rotation of the male screw 6 and the shaft encoder 12 generates pulses by the rotation of the shaft 11. When one side part 9 of the tile carpet 8 is projected slightly from the side end of a base plate 1 and mounted and then the photoelectric tube 10 detects the distance (d) from the upper end of the side part 2 of the base plate 1 to the lower end of the side part 9 of the tile carpet 8 by its up-down movement. The movement distance of the photoelectric tube 10 and the number of generated pulses of the shaft encoder 12 are in constant relation, so the generated pulses are counted to know the distance (d), i.e. the curvature of the tile carpet 8.
