PURPOSE:To compact an internal combustion engine and to improve engine performance, by a method wherein a cam shaft is rotatably situated, an L-type unit injector having a fuel injection part pointing to a combustion chamber is placed, and a rocker arm rocked by means of a cam is provided. CONSTITUTION:A suction exhaust valve is situated along a direction extending in parallel to a crank shaft 7. A cam shaft 15 is rotatably located in a manner that it is deviated one-sidedly from the center of a cylinder in the vicinity of a cylinder head 4. An L-type unit injector 23 having a fuel injection part 25 pointing to a combustion chamber located in the vicinity of the center of the top part of the cylinder is provided. A pump part 24 for the L-type unit injector 23 is reciprocatively driven by means of an injector drive rocker arm 22. This constitution compacts an internal combustion engine and enables improvement of engine performance.
