PURPOSE:To improve energy efficiency, by a method wherein natural decelerating operation and electric breaking operation are repeated when decelerating a servomotor. CONSTITUTION:When the deceleration of a servomotor is effected, an objective speed V is obtained by a formula V=KX (here X means a distance to a stopping point and K means a constant). Then, whether the present speed is higher or lower than the objective speed is decided. When the speed is higher than the objective speed, the servomotor is provided with the driving current of reverse direction to brake the servomotor. On the contrary, when the present speed is lower than the objective speed, the supply of a driving current for the servomotor is stopped, to decelerate naturally the servomotor. According to this method, the servo control method of a serial printer, which provides better energy efficiency, can be obtained.
