PURPOSE:To prevent a pump from breaking, by calculating a flexing amount in a shaft and a stress value corresponding to the flexing amount being based on an eccentric distance between two points in a main oil pump shaft and supervising the flexing amount for whether or not it reaches the fatigue limit. CONSTITUTION:Signals from gap detectors 13, 14 are converted into a flection amount in an amplifier 15 and a difference arithmetic unit 16. If a size of the calculated flection exceeds a predetermined value, an alarm unit 18 is actuated. The predetermined value, which is a flection amount when the maximum stress of a main oil pump shaft 2 reaches the fatigue limit, is left as previously obtained by calculation. Accordingly, the stress, generated in the main oil pump shaft, can be automatically supervised for whether or not the stress reaches the fatigue limit.
