PURPOSE:To reproduce a chrominance carrier signal whose band is widened without using an expensing device by separating a high frequency portion of a chrominance carrier signal from a luminance signal after demodulation, applying frequency conversion into a low frequency portion so as to synthesize it with a low frequency portion of the chrominance carrier signal and applying frequency conversion. CONSTITUTION:A high frequency component CH of a chrominance carrier signal FM-modulated and recorded together with a luminance signal Y is reproduced by rotary magnetic heads 1A, 1B and demodulated by a demodulation means 34 and separated from the luminance signal by a Y/C separation circuit 70. The separated component CH is frequency-converted to a low frequency by 1st frequency converter 82 so as to provide jitter equal to the chrominance carrier signal and synthesized with the low frequency component CL of the chrominance carrier signal from an LPF 41. The synthesized output is frequency- converted into the original frequency band by a 2nd frequency converter 87 and jitter is eliminated at the same time and the result is obtained at an output terminal 39C vis a BPF 88. Thus, the chrominance carrier signal brought into a wide band is reproduced with stable frequency without using expensive device.
