PURPOSE:To eliminate a reflected component to be noise and to allow an optical system to display the converging function like a lens by not using the lens with which the incident light is separated into the reflected component and a transmitted component but using elliptic mirrors. CONSTITUTION:Elliptic mirrors 11 and 12 are so provided that the optical axis of projected light passes two focuses before and after reflection on surfaces of elliptic mirrors 11 and 12, and the light is transmitted optically in the equivalent state. In a relay optical system using these elliptic mirrors 11 and 12, the light emitted from a spot light source placed in an origin O is converged at another point P as shown in a figure A and is transmitted as if it were emitted from the point P, and parallel rays are transmitted as they are as shown in a figure B. Thus, the efficient relay optical system is obtained which eliminates the reflected component to be noise and displays the condensing function like a lens.
