PURPOSE:To prevent the erroneous injection of fuel irrespective of the generation of noise by using a previous cylinder information for a present cylinder information when a count value of a rotational angle position signal is out of a set range during a rise time or a fall time of a reference signal. CONSTITUTION:An engine speed sensor 10 generates a rotational angle position signal even time an n-cycle 6-cylinder engine 1 rotates at a given angle, and also generates a reference signal in a predetermined angular range corresponding to each cylinder in an n-cycle of the engine 1. An electronic control unit 13 counts the rotational angle position signal during a rise time or a fall time of the reference signal. When a count value of the rotational angle position signal is out of a set range, it is determined that a noise pulse has been generated in the reference signal, and a previous cylinder information is therefore used for a present cylinder information. Accordingly, even when the noise pulse is generated in the reference signal, the cylinder information is properly updated from 1 to 6 in this order. Accordingly, there is no possibility of fuel being injected into an erroneous cylinder, thereby smoothly operating the engine 1.
