PURPOSE:To reduce cost and to enhance removing capacity, by dissolving a ferrous salt in tartaric acid or/and an aqueous solution thereof and supporting the resulting solution by a holmite mineral. CONSTITUTION:A ferrous salt is mixed with tartaric acid or/and an aqueous solution thereof in a predetermined ratio and the resulting solution is conditioned. Since the ferrous salt forms a stable complex, iron is held to an active state in a divalent form. Therefore, the ferrous salt quickly forms an ammine complex salt in the presence of ammonia or amines and reaction forming the complex with a sulfur compound such as hydrogen sulfide or mercaptan is kept extremely stably. This composition is used to prepare an aqueous solution containing 0.01-0.1wt.% of the iron salt and supported by a holmite mineral representing sepiolite and palygorskite occurring naturally. The molded body using this mineral is porous and the adsorbed gas is taken in not only the interstices between fibers but also the gaps of a crystal structure. By this method, malodorous gases including ammonia or amines can be removed extremely effectively and this malodor removing agent is economical. |
