A linear movement performing device which comprises an elongate structure (10) provided with two parallel, rectilinear guide surfaces (15, 16) which face opposite directions, a carriage (11) movable along the structure (10) and having at least three wheels (33-36) for cooperation with the guide surfaces (15, 16), and at least one adjusting disc (37, 38) rotatably mounted on the carriage (11) and carrying one or two of the wheels (33-36) and arranged to enable adjustment of at least one of the wheels (33-36) relative to the guide surfaces (15, 16) to thereby adjust the play between the carriage (11) and the structure (10). A lock means (40-44), comprising wedge portions (40, 41) on the carriage (11), a clamping disc (42) and lock screws (43, 44), is provided to frictionally lock each of the wheel carrying discs (37, 38) as the play is set. <IMAGE> |
