PURPOSE:To surely detect whether a film exists in a cassette or not, by providing a suction means for sucking a film in the cassette, a driving means for inclining the suction surface of the suction means toward the bottom face in the cassette, and a detecting means for detecting the inclination of the suction surface executed by the driving means. CONSTITUTION:In case when an X-ray film is not contained in a cassette 14, a suction cup 40 sucks the bottom face in the cassette 14. From this state, an eccentric cam 64 is rotated by a driving force of a motor and by this rotation, a rotary lever 44 is rotated clockwise around a pin 38. In this case, a tension coil spring energizes a suction cup-fitting plate 36 so as to rotate it in the same direction, but since the suction cup 40 sucks the bottom face in the cassette 14, the suction cup-fitting plate 36 cannot rotate around the pin 38. Therefore, since a plate 42 does not abut on the head part of a bolt 80, a limit switch 70 cannot be operated. In such a way, it is detected that the X-ray film is not contained in the cassette 14.
