PURPOSE:To appropriately obtain the data of a thermal head by sending a command from a printer main body and to perform detailed control, by mounting a microprocessor on the thermal head. CONSTITUTION:The microprocessor (MPU) 1 of a thermal head wherein a resistor element row of heat generating elements is mounted on a substrate 3 is mounted on the substrate 3 or the flexible printed wiring board supporting said substrate 3. The control part 4 of a printer main body sends a command to the MPU 1 to read necessary data. The thermal head driving part 5 of the resistor element row 2 is controlled by the control part 4 to drive the head and the printer main body reads these data by sending said command to the head to perform control so that the voltage applied to the resistor element group becomes proper. The MPU code 1A analyzes what the command sent from the printer main body is to take out resistance value data from an ROM 1C and sends out the data to the control part 4 of the printer main body through a communication control part 1B. The control part of the printer main body performs operation on the basis of the data thus obtained and starts the driving part 5 to apply proper power to the resistor element row 2 to perform printing. |
