PURPOSE:To obtain a drum superior both in mechanical strength and electrostatically charging performance by forming a semiconductor type conductive ceramic layer same in polarity as the surface of a photoconductive layer to be conrona charged on the surface of a metallic drum by the flame coating method and forming a photoconductive layer contg. an amorphous Si on this layer. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductor type, such as N type SiC or P type ZnO, conductive flame sprayed ceramic layer 4 same in polarity as the surface of a photosensitive layer 2 to be corona charged is formed by flame coating on the surface of a metallic drum, especially Al drum 1, and the layer 4 is polished to smooth its surface. A photoconductor layer 2 contg. amorphous Si doped with P, B, or the like so as to give N or P type conduction is formed on the layer 4 to obtain a photosensitive drum 5. Injection of carriers 7 opposite in polarity to the charged surface of the layer 2 is intercepted by rendering the charged polarity 6 of the layer 2 surface same as the conduction polarity of the layer 4 and attenuation of charged potential of the layer 2 is suppressed. As a result, the obtained photoreceptor is kept superior both in strength of the drum and charging characteristics, even if the layer 2 is thinned. |
