PURPOSE:To make it possible to select thermometry modes from a starting time in correspondence with purposes, by setting preliminary/actual thermometry modes based on the timeperiod for pressing down a power source switch. CONSTITUTION:A preliminary thermometry mode or an actual thermometry mode is set based on the lengths of times for compressing a switch 1. When the switch 1 is turned ON within the time of about 2sec from the stationary state of all functions or after the time of 2sec, a reference clock 10 is generated in an oscillation circuit part 2 based on a switching signal 9. A timing signal 11 is formed in a counter 3. Then, various control signals 12 and 13 are outputted from a control circuit part 4. External temperature is measured with a temperature measuring part 5. A signal 14 from the part 5 is processed in an operating part 6. A signal 15 as a preliminary measured value or an actual measured value is supplied to a temperature display part 7. Display data 16 are shown on a display means 8.
