PURPOSE:To improve the turn-around time of a source test program, by separating a statement part for setting a timing generator from a source test program, and providing an exclusive compiler timing editor and an exclusive compiler for said editor. CONSTITUTION:When a timing editor 20 is started, an image is displayed on a CRT. A user observes the image and forms rates or input timing edge data required for a timing generator TG. At this time, the data can be formed eighter in a character display mode 30 or a graphic display mode 40, and both modes can be switched. The timing source, which is formed in the editor 20, is made to be a timing object file 70 with a timing compiler 60 and stored on a hard disc. A transfer statement for sending the file 70 to a generator TG is provided. Timing signal data are set in the generator TG. In this way, the turn around time of a source test program is remarkably enhanced.
