PURPOSE:To enable maintenance of sharp image quality with lessened white spot flaws even under high humidity by using a gas having a substituent in the para position of a benzene ring as a raw material and imparting energy directly or indirectly to the gas by electric discharge or electromagnetic waves to decompose the gas, thereby forming an electric charge transfer layer essentially consisting of amorphous carbon. CONSTITUTION:The charge transfer layer essentially consisting of the amorphous carbon is formed by using the gas having the substituent in the para position (P-) of the benzene ring as the raw material and imparting the energy directly or indirectly to the gas by the electric discharge or electromagnetic waves to decompose the gas in a process for producing an electrophotographic sensitive body formed by laminating at least a photoconductive layer 3 which generates carriers movable by photoexcitation and the charge transfer layer 2 essentially consisting of the amorphous carbon. The mobility of the carriers, more particularly the holes in the amorphous carbon film is, therefore, improved to 0.01-20X10<-5>cm<2>/V.sec. The inexpensive photosensitive body which has the high sensitivity and excellent repeating characteristics is thereby obtd. |
