PURPOSE:To shorten an inspection time to a large extent, by placing a fuel assembly on a stand in an upright state to project the same on a plurality of the reflecting mirrors arranged on the stand in opposed relation to said fuel assembly and photographing the image thereof by a television camera. CONSTITUTION:The fuel assembly 5 suspended and supported through a crane is downwardly inserted through the hole of a support frame to bring the guide hole provided to a lower nozzle into engagement with the guide pin vertically provided on the protruding part of a stand 10. Subsequently, the winch of a raising and lowering drive apparatus is rotated in a take-up direction to take up a wire rope and a television camera mount table 13 is allowed to rise and fall to take the photographs of two side surfaces of the fuel assembly 5 on the front surface side thereof by a television camera 12a. The image signal of said camera is sent to a monitor television and, at the same time, the images of two side surfaces of the fuel assembly 5 on the back surface side thereof projected on reflecting mirrors 11, 11 are photographed by a television camera and the image signal thereof is sent to the monitor television to be projected thereon as an image and all of the side surfaces of the fuel assembly are simultaneously observed.
