PURPOSE:To provide the title compsn. for double-frequency drive which is low in the crossover frequency, large in the absolute value of dielectric anisotropy in both low-frequency and high-frequency regions, and excellent in the resistance to low-temp. deposition. CONSTITUTION:1-50wt.% (hereinafter simply '%') at least one compd. of formula I (wherein R1 is a 1-10C alkyl; formulae II and III are each a group of formulae IV and V; and X1 and Y1 are each H, CN, Cl, or F) is mixed with 1-70% compd. of formula VI (wherein R2 is R1; and R2' is R1 or alkoxy), 1-70% compd. of formula VII (wherein R3 and R3' are each R2'), 1-70% compd. of formula VIII (wherein R4 is R1; R4' is R2'; X2 and Y2 are each X1), 1-30% compd. of formula IX (wherein R5 and R5' are each R2, and 1-50% compd. of formula X (wherein R6 is R2'; formula XI is a group of formula II; and X3 and Y3 are each X1).
