NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R represents organic group composed of 2-5C saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group). EXAMPLE:A compound expressed by formula II. USE:A raw material for casting and molding materials, adhesives, paints, etc., curable by crosslinking without any volumetric shrinkage. PREPARATION:2,7-Dimethylene-1,4,6,9-tetraoxaspiro[4,4]nonane expressed by formula III is subjected to radical addition reaction with a saturated aliphatic monothioglycol expressed by the formula HO-R-SH preferably in 1:2.05-2.2 equivalent ratio normally in the presence of a radical reaction initiator (e.g. azobisisobutyronitrile).
