PURPOSE:To have raising of object from deep sea bottom by furnishing a retention means to pinch the object from the sides, and by lifting the retention means with the object pinched. CONSTITUTION:A clamp bar 20 hung down by a raising means 4 is sunk, and a measuring ship guides so that the clamp bar 20 is situated on both sides of an object to be raised. Then a moving means 3 puts the clamp bar 20 in contact with the sides of the object 1, and a pawl 21 is bitten in the object 1, which is thus grasped fast. When the object 1 is grasped, a winch 42 is driven to wind a wire rope 40, and the clamp bar 20 with the object 1 is raised. This enables raising of objects from the bottom of the deep sea or the lake without restriction to the shape and size of object to be raised. Thus almost all kinds of objects can be raised to accomlish a versatile raising means.
