PURPOSE:To obtain the correct translation for an original sentence having ambiguous interpretation or an original sentence having a special logical structure, by inputting direct grammatical/meaning information via a user. CONSTITUTION:For instance, 'MINAOSHITA' (HIRAGANA, cursive form of Japanese syllabary) has two different types of meaning A and B. Thus the translation tasks result in 'I looked at switch again.' with A and 'I pressed all switches.' with B respectively as candidate translated sentences. In this respect, a user inputs either one of following pieces of information, for example, before the translation is started. That is, a cursor is set at 'MI' for input 'MI' (KANJI, Chinese character) (1); the cursor is set at 'NAO' for input of 'NAO' (KANJI) (2); and the cursor is set at 'MINAO' for input of 'MINAO' (KANJI) (3) respectively. Then one of these three pieces of information and inputted so that 'I looked at switch again.' corresponding to the meaning A is selected as a correct translated sentence.
