PURPOSE:To prevent miscontrol in controlling an antiskid by switching the control mode of a lock state detecting means into an off-mode, when an abnormal situation, in which a stop lamp switch is on an on-condition because of melting or the like, takes place. CONSTITUTION:An antiskid device is provided with the CPU 51, which contains a lock-state detecting means 52 that detects the lock of a wheel by comparing the output of a wheel speed detecting means 50 with a standard value of deceleration. When the lock is detected, pressure controlling valves 1 and 2 are switched so as to lower the brake liquid pressure. The CPU 51 is provided also with a stop lamp detecting means 53, and, based on the output from the CPU 51, the control mode of the lock state detecting means 52 is determined by a control mode determining means 54. In this case, if the situation is abnormal in which the stop lamp switch is 'on' before the lock state computation is started, the system is controlled in such a manner that the control mode of the lock state detecting means 52 is switched into 'off' in the control mode.
