PURPOSE:To improve the operability for designating a file, by providing a directory of the file held by a terminal equipment, retrieving the directory by a file using request, and issuing the file using request to a host when its file does not exist. CONSTITUTION:When an access to a file is required, a prescribed command which has designated a file name to a program 27 for work is inputted from an input device 3. By its request a file access requester 26 retrieves a local file directory 28 of a terminal equipment 20 by a designated file name. When the designated file name does not exist in the designated directory 28, a processing is requested to a host access control part 12. The control part 12 which has received the processing request executes an access processing to a host file of a host computer 2.
