PURPOSE:To make possible high-draft rolling with a high-rigidity rolling mill by supporting the smallest-diameter work roll by the backup roll thereof and large- diameter work roll. CONSTITUTION:The two work rolls 2, 3 are disposed via a strip 5 to one driven work roll 1. The one roll 2 is as small in diameter as said roll requires the backup roll 4. The roll 2 is supported by an adjacent work roll 3 as well and is thus securely held. The roll 2 is driven and rotated by rolling force and is not required to be driven. Since the small-diameter work roll is released from the limitation in torsional rigidity and bending rigidity, the considerable reduction in the diameter and high-draft rolling are made possible. |
