PURPOSE:To improve the yield and strength of a sintered ore, by constituting the heat source to be blended with raw material of two heat sources consisting of coke fines and a specific prereduced iron ore and by allowing the above iron ore to cause exothermic reaction with oxygen in the course of heating. CONSTITUTION:At the time of carrying out sintering by blending coke fines with an ore as raw material, an iron ore or pellet prereduced to 10-90% metallization ratio and having <=10mm grain size is blended together with coke fines. As a result, the prereduced iron ore or pellet causes exothermic reaction with surrounding oxygen in the course of heating so as to be formed into a heat source for sintering in an unsintered zone. By this method, pores of >=about 500mu after sintering can be reduced, and the yield and strength of the sintered ore can be improved.
