PURPOSE:To produce a flock high in density and strength for reduction of the moisture content of dehydrated cake, by adding a cationic polymer having a monomer shown by a particular formula as a structure unit to night soil sludges containing tertiary-treated flocculent settled sludges and subjecting such sludges to centrifugal hydroextraction. CONSTITUTION:In the case of subjecting to centrifugal hydroextraction the night soil sludges containing tertiary-treated flocculent sludges, the cationic polymer formed by the polymerization of CH2=CH-CO-AZ-N(+)R1R2R3X(-) or further an anionic high molecular flucculant is added to said sludges. In the aforesaid formula, R1-R3 are respectively H or alkyl or aralkyl of 1-4C, A is carbon atom. or NH, Z is alkylene of 1-4C and hydroxyalkylene of 1-4C and phenylene and X(-) is anion. The inclusion of flocculent settled sludges in an organic sludge makes the centrifugal hydroextraction using the conventional flocculant difficult due to its small flock strength. By this method, however, the flock high in density and strength can be produced, leading to an increase in the SS recovery rate of separated water and a decrease in the moisture content of dehydrated cake.
