PURPOSE:To improve the watertightness between the metallic sheath and the core of a cable by laminating a semiconductive rubber layer containing high water absorptive resin on one side of a semiconductive cloth tape on the other side of which a layer of high water absorptive resin is coated. CONSTITUTION:On the both sides of a semiconductive cloth tape 1 a layer 2 of high water absorptive resin and a layer 3 of semiconductive rubber containing high water absorptive resin are coated respectively. As for the semiconductive cloth tape 1 a cloth made of plastic fiber such as nylon or Tetoron impregnated with semiconductive rubber composite mixed with carbon is used. As for the rubber material to be mixed to the said semiconductive rubber layer 3 a rubber material such as butyl rubber or chloroprene rubber added and mixed with carbon is used. This high water absorptive resin to be coated on the tape can be obtained by partial bridging of water-soluble polymer so as to make it unsoluble. The laminated tape made as the above is wound on the outer conductor of the core to form a watertight semiconductive layer, and on which a metallic sheath such as lead sheath or aluminum sheath is coated. Thereby the degradation of the core due to heating up during the coating process of the metallic sheath can be prevented and the watertightness between the core and the metallic sheath can be improved. |
