PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain a watertight cable with sufficient watertightness between the metallic sheath and the cable core and without thermal degradation of the core in manufacturing process by coating a semiconductive plastic layer containing high water absorptive resin and blowing agent on the cable core. CONSTITUTION:The space between elemental wire conductors 1 is filled up with a watertight material 2 such as ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) or ethylene-ethyl acrylate copolymer (EEA), and on which an insulator 3 such as polyethylene or bridged polyethylene is coated to construct a cable core. Then a semiconductive plastic layer 4 of 1-3 mm in thickness obtained by mixing respective specified rate of aquakeep and azodicarbonamide to a semiconductive resin obtained by adding 38% of furnace carbon to a basic material EVA or EEA is coated on the said cable core, and on which a lead sheath 5 is coated to construct a cable. Thereby the degradation of the core due to heating up during the coating process of metallic sheath can be prevented and a watertight cable with sufficient watertightness between the core and the metallic sheath can be obtained. |
