PURPOSE:To considerably compress the number of data by coding graphic data in a vertical direction with respect to a screen. CONSTITUTION:If graphic data in (m)-th line (n>=m>=1) and that in (m-1)-th line (n>=m>=1) are compared and both coincide when graphic data of (n) line (n>=0) in graphic data are compressed, a flag bit is set to '0'. If both do not coincide, the flag bit is set to '1' and data in (m)-th line is set to be written. Since graphic data is coded in the vertical direction with respect to the screen, the number of data can be compressed.
