PURPOSE:To maintain the excellent sour resistance of an austenitic alloy even under the sever environment in which H2S, CO2 and chloride are incorporated by specifying the compsn. limiting value of said alloy. CONSTITUTION:The alloy contg., by weight, <=0.03% C, 0.02-1.0% Si, 0.02-1.0% Mn, 20-28% Cr, 40.5-70% Ni, 7-14% Mo, <=0.1% La, <=0.1% Al, <0.03% Ca, <=0.10% O, <=0.03% P, <=0.01% S and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities is used as the titled alloy with the proviso that each condition of the inequalities should be satisfied. Said alloy is then cold worked to provide it the strength in the case of using the alloy for an oil well tube, etc. One ore more kinds among <=2% Cu and/or <=0.15% Sn and <=0.15% Sb are furthermore incorporated into said alloy at need.
