<p>PURPOSE:To make the replacement of contaminated dust collecting paper easy by providing, along dust collecting electrodes of an air purifier, a means of readily inserting and removing the paper which collects dust such as smoke. CONSTITUTION:A gas containing dust such as tobacco smoke is forced into an air purifier by driving an air blow fan 9 and introduced in a frame member 3, with large dust particles removed through a prefilter 7. Such gas is negatively ionized due to a corona discharge generated between a negative discharge electrode 1 and a dust collecting electrode 2 with a high voltage applied thereto. Then, the dust particles are negatively charged in contact with the gas, travelling to the positive dust collecting electrode 2. Inasmuch as the dust collecting paper 5 inserted along the dust collecting electrode 2 has an apparently semiconductive property, the negatively charged dust particles are attached to the positively charged side of the dust collecting paper 5. Thus, the contaminated dust collecting paper 5 may be removed for replacement from a dust collecting electrode slit, with electric current turned off.</p> |
