<p>PURPOSE:To easily produce a brake friction material having excellent character istic by grinding a corrosion resistant metal by a grinding wheel and forming metallic fiber, which the cross sections of length direction and width direction are modified and curled shape and the length and width sizes are specified. CONSTITUTION:The corrosion resisting metal (stainless steel, etc.,) is ground by the grinding wheel to form the metallic fiber 1, which the cross sections of length direction and width direction are modified and both end parts 7a, 7b of the length direction are formed to curl shape, and the length and width are respectively in the range of 1-4mm and 30-70mu. Then, an artificial abrasive grain is used as the grinding wheel, which has >=about No.60 grain size, less than middle class for bonding degree and <=about 50% content of abrasive grain and is ground under heavy grinding condition. By this method, the brake friction material having excellent wear resistance, attack resistance, heat resis tance, corrosion resistance and high strength and coefficient of friction without any break-way at the time of using, is easily produced at low cost.</p> |
