PURPOSE:To quickly decide the propriety of connection between a memory cartridge and an electronic device by collating a prescribed code written into a memory of the memory cartridge via the physical connection of the electronic device with the code read out of the memory. CONSTITUTION:A prescribed code is sent to a memory card 20 (memory cartridge) from an electronic device 10 via a CPU 11 and a connector 13 (physical connection) and then written into a memory chip 21. At the same time, the code is also read out of the chip 21 by the device 10 and the collation is carried out for decision whether the code written into the chip 21 is coincident or not with the code read out of the chip 21. If the coincidence is obtained between both codes, the physical connection of the connector 13 is decided normal. While the abnormal connection of the connector 13 is decided if no coincidence is obtained between both codes. Thus it is possible to quickly decide the propriety of connection between the memory cartridge and the device 10.
