PURPOSE:To reduce the crosstalk disturbance by changing the effective track width depending on the signal frequency to be recorded while effectively utilizing the recording enable area on the surface of the magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION:The type of material or the shape of the magnetic head is selected so that the magnetic reluctance of both ends 4, 5 of the track of the magnetic head 1 near a gap 2 is increased inversely proportional to the frequency and the change in the magnetic reluctance at the track edge is more eminent than that at the center of track. When the magnetic reluctance is change in this way, the more frequency is increased the more effective track width of the magnetic head 1 is increased. Thus, the magnitude of the crosstalk disturbance from adjacent tracks is decreased and the S/N of the signal reproduced by the magnetic head 1 is remarkably improved. |
