PURPOSE:To record and reproduce code information and image information by one type of disk by counting the number of sectors by the use of a prescribed idle area, a first mark signal written in an idle track, and a second mark signals indicating the start of data and a sector. CONSTITUTION:The plural blocks constitute the sector as one unit and a sector mark generating circuit 15 for generating a sector mark signal disposed at the leading part thereof is provided. The first mark signal previously written in the prescribed idle track or the idle area on the disk is defined to be a start point and the data is recorded and reproduced on the disk and at the time of a reproduction, the first mark signal and the second mark signal indicating the start of the data and the sector are used to correctly count the number of the sectors and write the data in a buffer memory. Thereby, an access can be attained to an ordinary sector.
